Two companies have now launched ARE 4.0 (Architectural Registration Exam) flashcards for your iphone!

Gwhizmobile has Kaplan sponsored flashcards, noted as coming soon, on their webpage. There is a quick demo and it looks promising. As to the available date and price, we’ll have to check back.

Another resource is made by Nalsa. These flashcards are available immediately. They are more expensive then the printed cards but offer the convenience of your mobile device. They do not have as extensive a demo.

It's back to school time, and the AIA is going green

As part of our continuing education, the AIA requires registered architects to attend classes yearly. This year, as part of that requirement, they are adding sustainability to the curriculum.

Given the impact of buildings and their energy use on the environment, I think this is a good step in raising awareness. However, until lower carbon emissions and energy useage are implemented as part of our building code, we as design professionals, are the champions of these needed changes.
