migration (empire) – linear version

I visited the migration video installation at the St. Louis Art Museum (SLAM) over the long weekend. An amazing piece portraying animals in desolate hotel rooms with transitional images of our fossil fuel resources. The animals were video-graphed in generic motel rooms. Their behavior was humorous at times, but mostly a sad reminder of the no-where America we have created without regard to natural resources or animal habitats. Doug Aitken’s piece is haunting, moving, and most memorable.
